Do Truck Drivers Need to File Taxes? W-2 or 1099?

expressAmber invites her friend Victoria from TaxBandits to help answer the question, “Do truck drivers need to file taxes?”

Most company drivers will receive a W-2 form that reports their wages and income and employers must mail these forms to the employees by the end of January. Owner-operators have a couple different options for reporting income. You may rely on your detailed records. However, if you have worked as an independent contractor for a company, you will receive Form 1099. It is used to report miscellaneous income.
